Yuvraj Singh Foundation also known as YouWeCan Foundation is a non-profit organization established by cricketer and cancer survivor Yuvraj Singh. The foundation works extensively in the field of public health in India with a focus on cancer control. Key focus areas include Breast Cancer, Pediatric Cancer and Oral, Head & Neck Cancer.
PROJECT OVERVIEW:
YouWeCan, through this event aims to start a Pan India movement where we sensitize more than 25,000 women and break the taboo regarding breast cancer through awareness campaigns for early detection and timely treatment.
PROBLEM:
1. One in eight women in India, will suffer from breast cancer in their lifetime.
2. In India, every 3 minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer and every 6 minutes a woman dies of breast cancer.
3. Around 70% of patients get diagnosed in advanced stages due to lack of regular screening and early detection.
SOLUTION:
"Breast Cancer Awareness & Regular Screening Saves Lives"
More than one third of cancer cases can be prevented. Another third can be treated if detected early. Which means we can save innumerable lives every year through awareness and early detection.
OUR WORK:
Over the past 2 years, we have made more than 2,00,000 women aware about importance of breast cancer awareness and early detection. Screening over 80,000 women for breast cancer in the state of Goa & also training them on self breast examination. We are now expanding the initiative nation wide.
