ABOUT US
Shramjivi Janata Sahayyak Mandal (SJSM) works in facilitating development of poor, disadvantaged and socially and economically backward communities from SC, ST, NT, OBC with the focus on facilitating promotion of natural resource based livelihoods & self-reliant community development organizations. Building community based institutions; making appropriate technological interventions, capacitating them to function effectively, finally enabling them to sustain themselves independently is core development strategy of SJSM. It has set up 4 independent NGOs and 66 co-operative based sustainable livelihood models on agriculture allied activities including sustainable agriculture, medicinal plants, food, fruit, cane-bamboo processing, dairy, fishery, micro credit etc. with the cross cutting approach on gender discrimination. The other programmes include health, education, women empowerment, tribal development (PVTG), disaster management, watershed development, strengthening of natural streams, social issues like child marriage, Superstitions, human rights, etc. Presently operational in 525 villages (About 5 lakh population) of Satara, Sangli, Raigad, Ratnagiri districts in Maharashtra.
