ABOUT US
Action for Ability Development and Inclusion (AADI), headquartered in Hauz Khas, New Delhi, is a leading national level organization in the field of disability and development. Started in 1978, it has been a forerunner in setting up delivery mechanisms in urban and rural areas, building human resources to meet the specific needs of persons with disability and influencing law and policy to realize the rights of persons with disabilities.
We at AADI believe that people living with disability are people first, and like everyone else, have equal rights in our country. People with disability, like everyone else, want to participate, belong and contribute to their families and communities.
AADI pursues the vision of an enabling world, in which people with disability are acknowledged as a form of human diversity, and are able to live with dignity, make all decisions about life and pursue equal opportunities.
AADI works with a cross disability and life span approach focussing on participation and inclusion of persons with disabilities in Early Education, School and Higher Education, Occupation and Employment
It works to facilitate skill development in Speech/Language and Communication; Physical and Functional Well-being; medical and Health including mental health; relations ships and social well-being; family life; Autonomy and decision making and Citizenship and leadership Development.
AADI has worked with more than 10,000 people touched by disability/year; has trained 3000 professionals over the years and made significant contributions to the Legislative reforms.
The annual expenditure at AADI is approximately 4 crores. 80% of the recurring expenditure is towards delivering services to people with disability and their families. While 50% of our expenditure is self financed through income from rentals and interests, we require support to raise the balance amount.
